Every cloud has a silver lining I am told. The silver lining for the horrendous weather and damage associated with cyclone Debbie is that Awonga dam has started to spill taking heaps of fish into the Boyne River. Over the next short while as the river flow settles down the barra fishing should be very exciting.

I was attracted to this fly because it is made of two of my favourite fly tying materials UV Ice dubbing and CDC. It has looked like a winner since I first saw this fly and it has not let me down. Designed by, as I understand it, Craig McDonald it is a very popular fly in Europe and fast developing a following in Australia and New Zealand.
This fly has turned out to be a fantastic point fly for bass in Lake Maroon. I have fished it for two years in a row in the Variety Club competition with a MKII olive or black woolly bugger on a dropper and achieved two podium finishes.
This 2/0 9cm fly is a barra variant of my mud prawn that I am testing.
This is my approach to Mal de mer, sea sickness, motion sickness or whatever you want to call it. It is a terrible affliction and can spoil what may well have been a great fun day.
